You set your own work area, which is the maximum distance in miles that you're prepared to travel for work. We'll only notify you about about jobs within your work area and you can change your work area to suit your needs at any time.

Business profile

As a verified Trade Member you'll get your very own business profile page on the OurIslandBuilders platform which tells people about your business, the types of service you offer, the area(s) you cover, and publish photographs of your work to your gallery in order to showcase your workmanship and help homeowners with design ideas and concepts.

Build reputation

Homeowners that hire you through our platform can share their experience with other homeowners by writing a review once any work is completed. Positive reviews give homeowners confidence in your business which can help build your reputation and lead to more work.

Frequently asked questions

We've compiled a list of the most common questions we get asked by tradespeople before signing up.

Do you offer a trial period?

As a special introductory offer, we are offering all new trade members the use of the platform completely free, with no payment needed * for 30 days.

During your trial period you will receive 30 days free access to the platform and your first subscription payment will be collected 1 day after your trial end date and then monthly thereafter.

* A valid payment method is required to activate your free trial period but you will not be charged anything during the trial. Your subscription will automatically switch to a paid one when your trial period ends unless you cancel your subscription during the trial period.

How long will it take me to apply?

Our online application is very straight forward and should take you no more than 15 minutes to complete. Once we've received your application we'll review it and let you know the outcome within 2 business days, but it may take longer during busy periods or if we need to request further information from you.

What happens after I submit an application?

When we receive an application for trade membership we carry out a number of background checks in order to prevent fraud and for the safety and security of homeowners. These checks include but are not limited to address verification, business registration status and verification of Gas Safe certification where applicable. We have strict acceptance critera that must be met in order for us to approve an application and any applications that fail to meet this critera will not be approved for membership. We will contact you by email to let you know the outcome of your application or if we need to request any further information from you.

Will I need to provide proof of my qualifications or certificates?

With the exception of Gas Safe status (which is a legal requirement to work with gas appliances), we do not require you to provide proof of any qualifications, certifications, memberships or affiliations. If you select any gas-related services when you apply you will be asked to provide your Gas Safe ID card number (if you're an individual engineer) or your business licence number (for business registrations) and the information you provide will be verified before you can offer gas-related services on your profile.

Will you guarantee a minimum number of leads each month?

Unfortunately no, as we are simply not able to determine the number of jobs that homeowners will post during any given period of time, or the types of services that will be required or the locations of any jobs in relation to your work area.

How much does it cost?

We charge a monthly fee of £29.99 which gives you complete access to all our features and services.

Do I have to buy leads?

No, you only pay a monthly subscription fee and nothing more.

Do I have to pay a joining fee?

No, there is no joining fee. You will only pay the monthly subscription fee.

How do I pay?

Once you have created an account and activated it you will need to provide your credit/debit card details in order to activate your subscription. We will attempt to collect a payment of the monthly fee on the first day immediately following your trial period end date and then monthly thereafter.

Is there a minimum contract length?

Absolutely not, there is no contract and you can cancel your subscription at any time via your account.

* The first 30 days from when you activate your subscription are offered as a free trial period. This special introductory offer expires on 1st April 2024, at which point, the trial period for new trade members will revert back to 30 days. If the number of days between today's date and the 1st April 2024 is less than 30 days, the trial period for any new applicants will be set to 30 days. Valid payment method required to activate your free trial period. The free trial is only available to new trade members when signing up for the first time. We will collect the monthly subscription fee on or around the same day of the month each month for as long as you keep your subscription active. If we are unable to successfully collect a payment for any reason, we will make a maximum of 3 more attempts to collect payment before your subscription is automatically cancelled, after which time you would need to log in and set up a new subscription in order to continue using the service.
